Dress for Warmth
With the drop in temperature, there is an increase in hypothermia in seniors. Hypothermia is a condition where the body temperature dips too low. More than half of hypothermia-related deaths were of people over the age of 65. So don’t let indoor temperatures go too low, not below 65 degrees. Dress in layers, wear warm clothing, and when going outside include a warm hat, gloves and a scarf.

In honor of the valiant service of our nation’s veterans, Waters Edge Lodge celebrated Veterans Day 2013 with a party and dance. Residents danced to the music of Jim Franz and his Band and toasted with refreshing drinks and tasty hors d’oeuvres. A wonderful evening was enjoyed by all.

Spooky treats and games, pumpkin decorating and a petting zoo were the highlights of the Alameda Elder Communities’ 3rd Annual Fall Festival at Waters Edge Lodge on Saturday, October 26th. Residents and guests all enjoyed the spook-tacular celebration.
Alameda Elder Services (AES) threw open the doors and welcomed the community last Thursday with raffle prizes, refreshments and senior fitness tests.
Therapist, trainers and wellness coordinators were on hand to explain the benefits of AES senior-focused services including Medicare-approved therapy and customized one-on-one personal training.
