AEC Living at Girls Inc., Women Who Dare Luncheon
We are at it again! AEC Living is out in the community taking an active roll in our city’s nonprofits. On Saturday, March 19th we attended the Girls Inc of the Island City, Women Who Dare, 17th Annual Awards Luncheon at the Oakland Hilton. The event celebrated several exceptional women and teens.
• Kelly Carlisle – Founder and Executive Director of Acta Non Verba , a community farm
• Janet Koike – Artistic Director & Founder of Rhythmix Cultural Works
• Fernanda Castro – Senior, Alameda Science and Technology Institute
• Maria Zarifis – Senior, Encinal High School
• Akiko “Faith” Yamato – Owner, Kamakura Restaurant received an Honorary Women Who Dare Award
Through their extraordinary work and example, these strong, smart, and bold Women Who Dare inspire girls to reach their potential and achieve their dreams. The girls in the Best Foot Forward Program led the attendees in honoring these women and teens. Girls Incorporated of the Island City inspires all girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold through innovative programs, activities, and advocacy.
AEC Living is proud to take part in events that support our community. Look for us at the upcoming Alameda Fire Department/AEA Crab Feed on March 26th. This sold-out event will be raising fund for DreamCatcher Homeless Youth Shelter, and for Alameda Point Collaborative.
On April 2nd we will be at the 25th Annual Have a Heart Gala, a fundraiser for the Midway Shelter for homeless and abused women and children. The event this year will honor Tony DeSimone, the founder of the Have a Heart Gala.
