Lodge Residents Visit Oakland’s African American Museum and Library
On April, 20th, residents from the Lodge took a trip to Oakland’s African American Museum and Library to explore the current exhibit on Heroines of the Civil Rights Movement. Walking around the exhibit brought back a lot of memories & even refreshed everyone’s minds of what went on during this period in time, one of the residents even saw an old friend’s name mentioned in the exhibit. Overall, it was a great experience and the residents really enjoyed the art & photographs.
This exhibition at Oakland’s African American Museum combines history and textile designs that honor women whose actions were instrumental in the success of the Civil Rights Movement. Some of the women were well known; others less so, but deserving of greater recognition.
