6/20/2020 Update from the COO

There are still no residents or staff members with symptoms or a diagnosis of COVID-19 AEC Living.

We are monitoring staff and residents daily and taking extreme precautions to limit our community’s exposure to the virus. Our risk level remains ORANGE.

As Alameda County enters a new phase of precautions, we remain committed to keeping our residents and staff safe. Policies limiting risk of exposure remain in affect. Our success depends on the cooperation of both residents and family. Precautions are adjusted as recommended by our regulatory agencies based on their monitoring of the county’s numbers. As a result, our current precautions are:

  • There is now a 7-day activity restriction for residents who leave the facility to participate in outside events. Because we cannot know exposure risk outside of the facility, residents returning from a function outside the facility may not partake small group activities for 7 days.
  • Wearing a mask or face covering is now required throughout California. Recent studies have shown that this is the best way to limit the risk of exposure and potential spread of COVID-19.
  • Over the last two weeks the numbers of people testing positive for COVID-19 continues to rise. Please remember to stay safe, wear a mask or face covering, wash your hands constantly, and continue to physical distancing.

We are thankful for everyone patience and understanding during this difficult time. Our policies of limiting exposure have helped keep our residents and staff safe. Thank you for your patience during this difficult time, we will get through this together.

But pandemic precautions aren’t the only thing we are doing in our communities!

We want to wish all the fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers in our community a very happy Fathers’ Day! Please stay safe, and remember to stay socially connected and physically distanced.

Salons and barbershops remain closed in Alameda County. However, we have received approval to open our salon at limited capacity for our residents. This means we will soon be taking appointments for those in need for salon services. Appointments are very limited. Safety requires we have only one resident and one hair dresser in the salon at a time. Then, between each use we have scheduled extensive time to sanitize and disinfect the area and items. Additionally, staff will be wearing masks, and residents must wear a mask when at the salon.

For more information on availability please speak the front desk.
