Lodge Residents Visit Oakland’s African American Museum and Library

On April, 20th, residents from the Lodge took a trip to Oakland’s African American Museum and Library to explore the current exhibit on Heroines of the Civil Rights Movement. Walking around the exhibit brought back a lot of memories & even refreshed everyone’s minds of what went on during this period in time.

Elders Inn Residents Honor First Responders

Elders Inn residents took a walk over to Alameda Fire Station #2 to deliver a thank you gift of home baked cookies to our brave fire fighters. Each year, on September 11th, Elders Inn participates in recognizing first responders in honor of those whose lives were lost and the courageous men and women who jumped onto action, with their only focus being to save lives, on September 11, 2001.

Exploring Our Community – Semifreddi’s

Once again residents of the Lodge are out and about exploring our community. This time our adventures have taken us to the delicious breads and pastries of Semifreddi’s, one of our favorite local bakeries. Our CEO, Lauren Zimmerman Cook, won a tour of the Semifreddi’s World Headquarters at a fundraiser for Alameda Meals on Wheels. Instead of keeping the tasty treat for herself, she offered it up to the residents of the Lodge. We were greeted at the door by Mike (official Mad Scientist, Chief Creative Officer, and Co-Owner), adorned with the latest in hair net fashions, and escorted on a 45-minute tour that was simultaneously educational, entertaining, and memory evoking.
