We all go through mandated training on dealing with Residents with MCI/ Mild Coginitive Impairment. Though sometimes it’s helpful to see some of the training in a new context. Such as if a resident is being difficult.. if approach them with a bright and sunny disposition, they will mirror your mood and will be easier distract and redirect. Start with an open heart and with simple empathetic communication will go a lot further than direct orders, seemingly obvious facts and merely explaining the rules.
